Police Raid MJ's Doctor's Office
Police Raid Clinic
The probe into MICHAEL JACKSON's death became a full-fledged manslaughter investigation YESTERDAY (7/22), as police and federal agents raided the HOUSTON office of the singer's doctor, CONRAD MURRAY. THE NEW YORK POST reports "the team of officers, including DEA agents and detectives from the LOS ANGELES and HOUSTON police departments, executed a search warrant at the ARMSTRONG MEDICAL CLINIC and hauled out a cache of documents and a copy of a computer hard drive.

"The search warrant authorized law enforcement to search for and seize items, including documents, they believed constituted evidence of the offense of manslaughter," attorney Ed Chernoff, representing CONRAD MURRAY, said in a statement. "Law enforcement concluded their search ... and left with a forensic image of a business computer hard drive and 21 documents. None of the documents taken had previously been requested by law enforcement or the LA coroner's office."

"The search of MURRAY's office computer core indicates authorities want to find e-mails either between the doctor and JACKSON or orders for drugs, said HARLAND BRAUN, a prominent LOS ANGELES defense attorney.

"The LAPD believes JACKSON may have been prescribed powerful drugs that led to his death, said author IAN HALPERIN, who has been in touch with LOS ANGELES police sources."

MJ to be Buried Wearing One White Glove
Posted Jul 9th 2009 2:00AM by TMZ.com
Michael Jackson will be laid to rest in pure MJ fashion -- as in he will be wearing one (and only one) of his favorite gloves.

Dorothy Gaspar -- who owns Gaspar Gloves in L.A. and designed gloves for the "This Is It" tour -- tells us La Toya Jackson wanted Michael to wear a glove inside the casket. Turns out La Toya chose a white leather glove Dorothy made for Michael 10-12 years ago -- a glove covered in Swarovski crystals.

Dorothy tells us she was informed of this yesterday by Michael's stylist -- Michael Bush -- when he picked up 20 green gloves she had made for Jackson's dancers.

Michael Jackson’s Will Released
CNN is reporting that Michael Jackson’s will, which was written seven years ago, has been filed in court.
There has been much speculation as to what would happen to Michael Jackson’s estate in his passing, but now, we have the answer in his own words. According to a will presented to court by Jackson’s lawyers, the following provisions have been made:

1. Jackson’s entire estate will be placed into the Michael Jackson Family Trust
2. Debbie Row, the mother of Jackson’s oldest children, will not be provided for. Jackson reportedly wrote: “I have intentionally omitted to provide for my former wife, Deborah Rowe Jackson.”
3. Custody of his children was given to Jackson’s mother Katherine, and secondarily, music icon Diana Ross. “If Katherine Jackson fails to survive me, or is unable or unwilling to act as guardian, I nominate Diana Ross as guardian of the persons and estates of such minor children.”

Michael Jackson’s Last Will & Testament not only names his mother as the guardian of his children, he also names Diana Ross. Which isn’t really surprising, he and Diana had a friendship that lasted years. She has said of Michael’s death: “I am unable to imagine this. My heart is hurting. I am in prayer for his kids and the family.”

Michael’s Will states:
“If any of my children are minors at the time of my death I nominate my mother, Katherine Jackson as guardian of the persons and estates of such minor children. If Katherine Jackson fails to survive me, I nominate Diana Ross as guardian of the persons and estates of such minor children .”

Michael has left all assets to the Michael Jackson Family Trust. Attorney John Branca and John McClain, a music executive, are named as executors. No charities were named and father Joe Jackson wasn’t exactly omitted being as the funds will go into the family trust.

According to documents obtained by a major news wire service, Michael Jackson claimed to have a net worth of $236.6 million in March of 2007. But less than $700,000 of that was in cash. Michael’s assets in 2007 totaled $567.6 million – that included Neverland Ranch which (valued at $33 million) cars, antiques, collectibles and other property (valued at $20 million) and Michael’s piece of the lucrative Sony/ATV Music Publishing catalog, which includes the Beatles’ songs. But his debts totaled $331 million. Subtract that from the $567.6 million in assets and you get $236.6 million in net worth. According to the repot, Michael had $668,215 in cash in 2007.

UPDATE: Michael Jackson's body to be displayed in public viewing
Michael Jackson's body will be taken to Neverland Ranch in California for a public viewing on Friday.

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Michael Jackson's body will be driven to his Neverland Valley Ranch in central California as early as Thursday with public viewing being set for later this week, according to media reports on Tuesday. A motorcade of as many as 30 cars is expected to accompany Jackson's body to his ranch, which is located near the town of Los Olivos, north of Santa Barbara, according to reports by TV network CNN and celebrity website TMZ.com, citing police officials.

Entertainment news website E! News cited a Santa Barbara Sheriff's department spokesman as saying meetings were now taking place with the California Highway Patrol to discuss security for the trip from the Jackson family home in Los Angeles to Neverland Valley. A spokesman for the Santa Barbara County's sheriff's office was not immediately available to comment, nor were representatives for Jackson's family.

Pop superstar Jackson, whose hits include "Thriller" and "Billie Jean" died suddenly of cardiac arrest last Thursday. Jackson's birthplace of Gary, Indiana, also is planning a memorial service for the deceased singer on July 10, according to a spokeswoman for the Gary mayor's office. Lalosa Burns, spokeswoman for Gary Mayor Rudy Clay, said the memorial service would take place at US Steel Works sports stadium, and that more details would follow. She did not have any information about the service being planned in California.

Jackson's Mother Files For Guardianship Of Children ANTHONY McCARTNEY, AP Entertainment Writer
LOS ANGELES -- A court document says Michael Jackson's mother, Katherine, has filed for guardianship of the singer's three children. The guardianship papers were filed in Los Angeles Superior Court on Monday. A hearing has been set for Aug 3. Jackson left behind three children: Michael Joseph Jackson Jr., known as Prince Michael, 12; Paris Michael Katherine Jackson, 11; and Prince Michael II, 7. The youngest son was born to a surrogate mother. The filings show that Katherine Jackson is also petitioning to take over the children's estate. Its value is listed as "unknown" in the filing.

The filing lists the children as living at the Jacksons' family compound in the San Fernando Valley, northwest of Los Angeles. "Minor children are currently residing with paternal grandmother," the filing states in an explanation of why Katherine Jackson should be appointed guardian. "They have a long established relationship with paternal grandmother and are comfortable in her care." The filings provide no other declarations by Katherine Jackson, nor do they state whether Michael Jackson left a will. The filings note that Deborah Rowe is the mother of the Jackson's two eldest children, but list her whereabouts as "unknown." For Michael Jackson's third child, known as Blanket, the filing states "None" for the mother. THIS IS A BREAKING NEWS UPDATE. Check back soon for further information. AP's earlier story is below.
