South Carolina's Message in our Music program brings a positive light to Hip-Hop! This statewide campaign invites aspiring young hip-hop and rap artists to develop original songs to counter the negative messages often heard in today's popular music. Through the project, youngsters have the opportunity to perform live onstage in major venues while winning prizes! Plus, their music could be professionally recorded.

The "Message In Our Music Project" targets students in middle school, high school and college. The participants' original compositions had to: (1) depict the negative consequences of substance abuse; and/or (2) reflect the positive reasons for staying away from these substances (including messages about HIV/AIDS).

For more information on the "Message In Our Music Project," contact CMG at (843) 723-4111; e-mail: miomp2001@aol.com.

The National Children's Center for Rural and Agricultural Health and Safety strongly recommend that tractor operators voluntarily prohibit children and adults from riding as passengers on farm tractors. Children and adults riding on a tractor can be severely injured or killed if they fall off the tractor. Runovers are the second leading cause of tractor-related fatalities nationwide. Too often they involve kids. Do your part in protecting agriculture by saying "no" to riders on tractors.
